Time-Out
If you never have a moment to yourself, it is time you started developing a time-out habit. You could go for a walk three times a week, or even a long hot bath every now and angina. If you really have an issue with finding time, then ten minutes a day is a good start as long as you make the best use of the time you can. Ensure that you’ll have no distractions, turn your phone off, or at least ou it on silent. If ten minutes is all you have, then learning to meditate can really make the best use of this time. So close your eyes, concentrate on your breathing and let everything wash away. If you get good at it, it can really help you remove stress and help you prioritise your life.
Learn To Say No
Learning to say no can truly be one of the hardest things people learn to do. However, once you see the benefits this magic word can have on your life, you will begin using it more a more frequently. Don’t be a people pleaser and do favours or tasks for people at work that you really do not have time for. Try and avoid getting roped into helping with events of you are already busy. This is how you overload yourself and become more stressed. Additionally, you may need to find alternative solutions to things, such as elderly parents who you are finding it more and more difficult to care for. There are some great care home services available. Remember, the more time you can get back for yourself, the better quality time you can have with your family.
Exercise
Exercise is a prime example of self-care. This has a whole range of benefits on your health, stress levels and energy levels. The more exercise you can get into your weekly routine, the better you will fare. Perhaps just start with extra walking. You can take the kids too, so they are getting a bit of fresh air.
Treat Yourself
It is not all about the children. You need to give yourself a gift every now and again. Without showing appreciation to yourself, you will begin feeling worthless. You are not worthless, so do something nice just for you. You could have a day trip to a spa, or go to the hair salon, or a shopping trip. You could even see that musician you have been dying to see with your best friend. Whatever you fancy, you deserve a little self-indulgence every now and again.
