Born out of an obsession for silk and the feeling of natural fibre on the skin, ethically-made Hoth & Bothered camis and tees from Amsterdam are here to make us all feel like natural beauties.

We love the name of the brand. Why ‘Hoth and Bothered’?

That is always a popular question. Growing up as most adolescent do, I went through different phases of personal style. At one point it was quite grungy/goth like and then it became very boho/hippy. My best friend nicknamed me hothy, a cross between a 'goth' and 'hippy', and so Hoth & Bothered was born. My style now is neither of these, but simple and classic, with the hippy spirit represented (and still a few Iron Maiden T-shirts left in my closet).

Can you describe your design philosophy?

The design process is a combination of my own style aesthetic combined with constructing designs that fall past the ever-changing seasonal trends. Instead, these are to be pieces you can keep forever, year after year, rather than keep changing each season.

"Cotton T-shirts and silk cami tops are two staples that are just perfection when worn with a pair of jeans, and complement other looks so well."

You like to use organic cotton and silk as materials. Why these?

Both fabrics are organic GOTS-certified to reduce environmental harm the fashion industry has on our planet. It is really quite insane how these conventional processes cause so much destruction. Cotton T-shirts and silk cami tops are two staples that are just perfection when worn with a pair of jeans, and complement other looks so well. I also have an obsession for silk and the way the natural fibre feels when worn.

Female muses, actresses and models from past and present, such as Ali MacGraw, Brigitte Bardot, Jean Shrimpton, and Kate Moss appear frequently in your Instagram feed. Can you tell us about how or why these iconic women have influenced the look of your brand?

All of these iconic women are natural beauties and know how to make something simplistic look so heavenly. Their style is still very much relevant with current trends today. And Jane Birkin surely knows how to wear a basic T-shirt paired with jeans.
